11/10/2007 22:49:18 - John 10

"I was thinking about stuff. And then I started to wonder, do I actually believe that my hand CAN get better? Is it even in God's will?

And then I started to think about Lazarus. Jesus didn't zoom up the Judean countryside and fix him.

He waited.

And because of that, he was able to bring Lazarus out of death.

3 things strike me:

1. Why the wait? So that Lazarus would be in a condition (death) that when Jesus fixed him, no one could argue that he probably would have got better anyway. It removed any doubt about who Jesus was.

2. To bring glory to His name becuase of that.

3. Ultimately, he saved Lazarus from something so much worse. When u shift the perspective in our own lives, we see that he may not address our peripheral needs -but He's sure covered our greatest need. He overcame death."

a msg i sent to clairey. i'm clearing my phone out, so i stumbled across it.
I want to flesh out the 3rd point.
when u shift the perspective from focusing on how much i'm suffering, to how sinful I am, it becomes clear that the severity of the latter is so much more important - and thank God He's dealt with it! We need to broaden our perspective, and see ourselves as God does. It's like a medical scenario. When you come across a casualty in the field, nearly the first thing you do is a blood sweep. if the person has a bleeding head, you address that first and foremost, because what's at stake is so much more important - their life! even if they have a broken ribcage, and they might be in agony because of that, the objective perspective of the medic instructs them to address the greater and more severe need.

anyway.
