our parents are away. we are free to do what we want. the kitchen got seriously messy. it wasn't a liberating experience - it was a burdening one. since when does freedom not liberate? my understanding of freedom as doing whatever i want was a misguided one.
similarly, blame-shifting enters the equation. say that i walk into the kitchen and the bench has dirty plates all over the place. i think to myself 'i didn't start this mess!', thinking i have removed myself from responsibility from the mess.
i then proceed to make pasta and scatter flour over the entire kitchen, cause the bin to overflow and put dirty forks in amongst the clean cutlery in the dishwasher.
just because i may not have technically 'started' the mess in the kitchen, i still participated in it and approved it. which makes me totally responsible for it.
