a wasted generation

On a Saturday night, Satan smiles smugly, as the hoards of men, God's image-bearers, go out into the darkness to drown their selves in culturally acceptable meaninglessness.

The generation that might have risen up to break through darkness, injustice, abuse, lies, and safety to change the world, instead sway mindlessly in anonymous clubs, wasting themselves in senseless and destructive orgies...

O, that they might be snatched from a wasted life.

Their strength, meant for exercise in mighty battles,
is poured out down the drain of folly;

Their minds, wired for apprehending great and glorious things,
are numbed and disengaged by self-indulgent and destructive escapades into drunkenness;

Their hearts, created for the deep stillness, satisfaction and joy of beholding Glory and Beauty,
have been shrunk down and decayed by cruel masters and meaningless trinkets.

Their bodies, made for fullness of life and relationships of selfless love and trust,
have been bruised and ruined by sensory gluttony that no longer feels anymore.

Their lives, quivering with the anticipation of adventure, courage, risk, and selfless love,
have been wrecked on the rocks by Satan's siren calls of comfort, security, and acceptance.

O, wake up!

In the name of Jesus Christ, who died to free you from self-worship and liberate you into the deepest satisfaction in the worship of His glory; WAKE UP!

Wasted potential; wasted earnings; wasted time; wasted braincells; wasted hearts.

That they might hear Your voice and be raised up.
For Your sake.
