His commitment to the exultation of His glory and our desire for satisfaction are not in conflict with one other. Totally the opposite. If He is the greatest being in all the universe, then if He were to give us anything other than Himself to worship, He would be depriving us of the deepest satisfaction and joy a human can experience. He would not be loving us. And the Cross is what frees us from worship of ourselves, and worship of a construct of a man-centred God, and enables us to see Him for who He is, a God-centred God, and find true joy - and an eternity of self-forgetting bliss in His brilliant face.
