eyes to see

in repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength.

God's plans often seem foolish to our dimmed eyes and shadowed hearts.

In 705 B.C when Judah had the choice between joining an alliance between Egypt and Babylon to rebel against the superpower of Assyria, trusting in their military might and in doing so aligning themselves with Egypt's gods and descending into idolatry, OR trusting in God.

The problem with this strategy, is that it was not of God, but a human construction (Isa31.1); it would not work (Isa30.12); and it placed God's own people on the wrong side of His judgment (28.18).

True blindness is rejecting God and turning to other solutions. It's the macular degeneration of the soul. It leaves you unable to make sense of how things relate to one another; furthermore, you cannot see where you are going.

out of gloom and darkness
the eyes of the blind will see.
